If Only The Sky

The rain comes down on my brow
like salt into the ocean
like pain on sadness
Seems to me like there's no way
to be prepared
The sun beats down on my neck
like a whip across my back
like joy on gladness
If only I'd gain
some understanding
The sky came falling on my head
like a car crash
like wisdom to a fool
Seems to me like that's just
the way it'll always be
Snow fell onto my heart
like an avalanche
like anger into children
If only I could capture
some of their imagination
