Addict

I'm an addict, tried and true
Abuser of substances to get me through
No judgments here
Now that love is near
I live my life like a freak undercover
Seeing through the forest from my knees
Using my mind like a one night lover
Hoping I find contentment amongst the trees
Sifting the sand beneath my feet
My ocean retreat
Closing the empty door
I surrender and fall upon restful shores
into the arms of regretless-ness
Waves pound the shore with furious release
stealing away the powerlessness in me
